About Us

About Us

Adventure In Colors was founded in 1988 by Stan and Bette Harper, both opticians in practice for many years. The company began by tinting soft contact lenses in their kitchen and soon moved to a location in Golden, Colorado. As the company grew, they developed a process for hand-painting FDA-approved dyes onto clear, soft contact lenses comprised of 55% water Methafilcon A material DW annual replacement. Later, they developed techniques for hand-painting prosthetic lenses for patients suffering from disfigured or damaged eyes, matching the normal/good eye nearly perfectly.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is to help people with eye problems. Our custom-tinted and hand-painted soft contact lenses change lives. The company is now owned by Ms. Meltem T. Kilinch. Meltem has been with Adventure In Colors since September 1992. She started as an ocularist artist in the lab while attending college for international business and management. Meltem was fascinated with Adventure In Colors products and how these products help individuals and change their lives. She decided to change her career and asked to be trained in this field. Meltem bought the company back in 2012 right before Stan Harper retired. Our lab has great ocularist artists in manufacturing: Joan Bondy, Muge Kuran, Julie Ashmore, Deniz Kuran and Defne Kilinch.
